Make Peace With Your Body
March 22nd, 2019 by JoAnne BassettAt this time of year many people start a new diet. They want to get ready for summer by losing weight so they will look great in their new bathing suits and bikinis. They will be removing the heavy layers of clothing and revealing more of their bodies with tops with short sleeves and shorts.
Many people will start by buying an Easter dress and outfit. Going to the dressing room to try on various Spring clothes. They will take a look in the dressing room mirror and not like what they see. They will feel body shame from all of the heavy eating and snacking they did over the holidays. They will hate their body image and try to look away. Is this you? Does reading this post tweek you and push your buttons?
I have gained weight over the last 2 years and find it more difficult to shop for clothes with zippered pants. My eating habits are changing and I am following a different path. Do I love my body less? Am I being hard on myself for the extra weight? No I am accepting my new size and recognizing I have been too thin most of my life. Being a petite person I never had very much fat on my body. When I was going to the gym 5 to 7 days a week I could not pick up even a 1/4 inch of fat off my body. My body metabolism was faster and I did a lot of exercise. I went dancing almost every night. My activity naturally kept my weight lower. I am older now and my metabolism has changed. The vegetarian diet has gone along with my size 4 clothes.
My happiness does not depend on looking like a Barbie doll. My soul is happy, my Spirit is enchanted and I am looking forward to many new beginnings and opportunities that Spring will bring.
My latest natural eau de perfume is Make Peace With Your Body. It is time we all do this. Our body is very important. Without good health, a good mind and active body we cannot do and be what we want for ourselves.
We all have a mission in this lifetime. We must love ourselves and love others to have a rewarding and fulfilling life.
