Having French – Paris origins on my Father’s side..the Bassett name is a good reason for me to celebrate. I used to go to Paris and look in the Paris phone book and see pages of Bassetts and the French spelling Basset. In my genealogy are French royalty with kings and queens going all the way back to Charlemagne.
Being in Paris for Bastille Day is really a fun thing to do. The pomp and circumstance is amazing. The French really know how to put on a parade, fireworks, and wonderful French food is everywhere. Traditionally they served aioli – a garlic mayonaise with bread to the towns people on Bastille Day. It is a purge of parasites in the bodies using massive amounts of garlic.

Self love is very important and without it we don’t honor ourselves. This is a photo of me in La Costa, CA after spending time with a friend. Connections with friends and loved one are good and help us to feel loved, wanted, accepted and more. We need this feeling at all ages. This feeling of joy, love and peace is a vibrational state. When we are in this state we draw positive experiences to us.

I have noticed my whole life that what people really need more of is love… including myself. “What the World Needs Now Is Love” is a 1965 popular song with lyrics by Hal David and music composed by Burt Bacharach. First recorded and made popular by Jackie DeShannon, it was released on April 15, 1965. With all of the violence and hate crimes this is a very relevant song. I invite you to listen to the words.
In order to give and receive love you must first love your self. Yes… self love. It starts with us. As children we are taught to love your neighbors as ourselves. Then you go to school and see not everyone even likes each other let alone loves each other. Our eyes are opened.
As adults we love our family, our friends and our children. How often do we look in the mirror and put our hand on our heart and say “I Love You”. We are often heard condemning our body and being critical of our brilliance and new thoughts. We don’t always treat ourselves with love but disdain. Why would we expect another human to love us if we cannot love ourselves. You must have a supply of love to give… and it starts with us. Begin within… go back to that little child.. the inner child and ask her what she wants. How does she want to be loved? Does she feel loved?
When I create my Natural Perfumes I work with energy and the aspects of the essential oils for healing the emotional body and uplifting the spirit. Love, peace, joy and gratitude are high vibrations and when we are living and feeling good, life gets better and better. Natural Rose otto or rose oil from live rose petals has a very high vibration and I use it in my perfumes to open the heart chakra. We need to open the heart so we can receive love more fully. In honor of Earth Day I am asking my readers to become more aware of how you reuse, recycle, and conserve our resources.
When I look at the packaging in a perfume business I cringe. There are double boxes, the outer box which is the mailer and the inner box which is the beautiful one we throw away, the paper liners, the cellophane over wraps, the tissue, the bows, etc.
We hear over and over how packaging sells the perfume. When we buy the perfume the first thing we do is throw away the layers of packaging and usually just put the pretty bottle on our dresser. Some people save the box if it can be re purposed or if they prefer to have their fragrances all in boxes in a cabinet as a collection.
When I was looking to create more boxes for my collections I thought about my choices. I created a beautiful expensive gift box for my Le Voyage eau de toilette.
As I researched other brands I noticed that they are really almost all the same with different colors and logos. To set my line apart I chose boxes that could be reused.
My perfume boxes are gift boxes in the shape of books. They are deep enough to store trinkets or other items. They have a magnetic flap so the box will stay closed. They are three sizes and house my parfums, eau de parfums, and Limited Edition parfums, and all of the Collections with hand blown glass perfume bottles. These beautiful boxes have gold foil and beautiful flower patterns with butterflies. They are unique and also can be stacked or placed on a shelf like a book. How original!
My Gift Boxes contain 1 oz of eau de parfum and come with a free 5 ml travel sprayer filled with your favorite scent. They can be refilled. If you remove the paper filling you will see the beautiful designs in the bottom of the box. The box can be reused and re purposed. These are ways to reduce our paper waste and not contribute more garbage to the landfills.
