I have been creating Natural Perfumes for 30 years now.. I started my business Aromaworld, Bassett Aromatherapy, and JoAnne Bassett in 1993. My company name changed over the years and I added products and deleted products also. It morphed from an Aromatherapy company to a Natural Perfume company.

I remade myself many times. Over the years, I have taught perfume classes online and in person with my Perfume Kit, I imported and exported essential oils, electric wooden diffusers, floral waters, many aromatherapy lines I created myself,  my private label lines I created for others, luxury natural perfumes, parfums in hand blown glass bottles in lovely boxes and so much more.  I have sold world wide to celebrities, royals and all as retail perfumes, wholesale perfumes and as a distributor.

I created Custom Perfumes for many people by tapping into their “energy field”.  I no longer create these nor do I give intuitive readings.  All natural perfumes I create I have done Divine Alchemy on them..adding Divine Light to the perfumes to raise the vibrations, adding joy, love and so much more.

My natural perfume store Le Bijou in La Jolla, California was an adventure for a few years.  Clients came to my boutique from all over the world.  It closed in the 2008 with the recession and I moved to the CA desert for a few years.

During the 30 years I have lived in 6 different states and have travelled to over 50 countries for business and pleasure. I have been divorced with no children for many years and it allowed me the freedom to live where I want and to travel. I have been able to run my online company from many locations.

In 2013 I wrote my Sacred Scents book.  I wrote it to answer the question “Why did I become a Natural Perfumer?”.  It is sold on Amazon. I also wrote chapters in other books.

During the winter months many people experience seasonal depression.  This happens when there are not many hours of daylight and often during the day it rains, snows or is generally cloudy and dark.  Some people tend to stay indoors and drink coffee or tea for the caffeine to give them a “boost”.

This time of year can be an emotional roller coaster as we take a look at our life. We spend hours with ourselves after the holidays have worn off, doing a life review of our goals and where we are at.  If that is not a positive thing for you there is a tendency to fall into a depressed state. We do not feel good about ourselves and everything  surrounding us.

When I lived in the Seattle, Washington area for 10 years I learned about depression and the lack of sunlight and how it affects us emotionally.  My citrus essential oils brought me some smiles but it was not long lasting.

I created Reveiller eau de toilette for my boyfriend who suffered from depression from going to work in the dark and driving home in the dark and rain. He actually did not even realize his depressed state but I did.  In the summer he was a different person. I will not be offering any 20% off discounts on Etsy for them to show my site more often in  searches.  As I have shared Etsy paid ads takes a large chunk of profit already.

In this Etsy and retail world of discounting everything… people are just looking for bargains. That is a scarcity mindset and I no longer choose to play the game.

Empowering people is one of my missions in this reincarnation.  How can I tell you to empower yourself using my encoded and perfumes with alchemy, and then you play the discount game? The world is an abundant place.. prosperity abounds. Shift your way of thinking, the way you talk to yourself and treat yourself.  This is mainly a self esteem issue. I have gone through this myself this lifetime. Have you read the book “As A Man Thinketh”?  You create your reality with your thoughts and the actions you take in this world.

No one is coming to save you!  Save yourself! You are the only one who can do it.

Can you believe we are in May and the first nice weather holiday is upon us?

Memorial Day weekend is the beginning of camping season and spending more time at the lake.  Hiking, fishing, gardening… and just getting our feet in the grass and our fingers in the dirt. I am enjoying my vegetables and flower plants I started from seed.  My rose collection is growing … almost 40 roses in 2 years since I moved to North Carolina. They are hanging out in pots on my deck until they can move into their permanent home.  It is so much fun bringing in the roses and having them at my desk to waft all day long.

I have had some great offers on my company, my brand JoAnne Bassett. Until I receive the cash in my bank it remains for sale.

There are some beautiful vintage oils still available on my Etsy store under Perfumer’s Corner. These are precious and will keep for many years… I have owned some of these vintage oils since 1999.

One thing I adore about Spring is the many blooms that only last a few weeks and then they are gone until next year.  One of my most favorite flowering bulbs is iris. When I was growing up we had a bunch of these old fashioned iris pallida blooms.  It is heaven to stick your nose into the bloom.  The soft, sweet ethereal scent matches the fragile petals of the purple bloom.  Do you recall these from your childhood?

Iris pallida, the Dalmatian iris or sweet iris, is a hardy flowering perennial plant. It is native to the Dalmatian coast in Croatia.  This highly sought after material from the iris is called orris root butter or absolute. The real material is expensive and that is what I have. I bought it from a small company in Europe who offered it to me. What a treat!   It is a floral and smells like violet flowers.  It also adds a powdery note that is sought after in high end perfumes.  I have been saving it for a really special perfume and the time is now.

Smelling this divine orris makes me feel loved.  It is so expansive.  So I created a magical perfume and named it “You Are So Loved” as that is how I felt after anointing myself with it.

You Are So Loved perfume smells like a beautiful, sweet purple violet with citrus top notes that play into a light green note. It is fresh like Spring rain and is grounded like soft wood.

In the winter season especially in cold climates there are a lot of gray, dreary, rainy days that are very depressing. Some people just want to go back to bed.  With cooler temperatures and going to work in the dark and getting home in the dark when the sun sets at 5:00 pm it seems like you never see the light of day.  There is a condition called SAD – Seasonal affective disorder occurs in climates where there is less sunlight at certain times of the year. Symptoms include fatigue, depression, hopelessness, and social withdrawal.

Depression of any kind can lead to thoughts of suicide.  If a person feels that there is no longer anything to live for after loosing a loved one, loosing a job or other loss it may escalate to suicide.

The last few years many people have expressed hardship, loss on many levels.  Quarantine made many of us lonely, sad, and we were left to sit with our feelings. The chaos of the world and the stress of the unknown have done major damage in some lives. The virus and threat of losing our freedoms with the need of Health Passports and other controls by the government may be the final straw for some.
