Honeysuckle Tincture From My Yard

July 26th, 2011 by

Oh how I love honeysuckle..the tender white and yellow flowers.? The fragrance of honeysuckle is unmistakable.? There is no other smell quite like it…it is difficult to capture.

This is a honeysuckle bush in my backyard.? Here is a bottle of organic grape alcohol that I put the small honeysuckle blossoms in to create a tincture.? Now all I need is patience! Does anyone have any extra patience they can spare?

Dark Mistress, the Night Queen Review

June 25th, 2011 by

A Midsummer Night’s Dream Perfume Event ~ Reviews by Scott Ellis

JoAnne Bassett Perfumes, JoAnne Bassett parfumeur ~ Reine de Nuit eau de parfum.
This smells like an expensive perfume that you could find on the shelf at Lucky Scent in LA. If I didn’t know it was all natural I wouldn’t know it was all natural, understand? Night queen is listed as one of the ingredients of this perfume and isn’t something I am very familiar with. In fact, I don’t think I have ever heard of night queen before. This perfume, according to Ms. Bassett, is based on the night and not on a certain character from the play A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This definitely isn’t a fairy’s perfume. Not even a little bit. This is a big, loud, sexy perfume. It might belong to Titania if she wasn’t such a fairy herself. The best way to describe this perfume is to say that if Marilyn Monroe, Bette Midler, Madonna and Lady Gaga all got together to make a perfume, then this is what they would come up with. The other ingredients in this perfume include rhododendron, peru balsam, rosewood, damask rose oil, neroli, tuberose, vintage jasmine sambac, frankincense, yuzu, clove bud, tulsi, frankincense noir, champa, vetiver, violet leaf and ylang-ylang. Smells really great on me, my girl and our roommates. Scary sexy.

Fresh Gardenia Flowers – A Raw Material

May 30th, 2011 by

I love gardenias.? In San Francisco they sell gardenia corsages on the street corners.? I went to an aromatherapy conference many years ago and wore one.? They stay fragrant all day.

Now that I grow gardenias in my garden I am able to use them in my natural perfumes.? Several varieties offer enough gardenia petals to create the perfect gardenia scent for my 100% natural fragrances.

I pick them in the morning and tincture in alcohol and macerate the blooms.?? Months later I am able to use this tincture or maceration in Madame Pompadour or other fragrances.? It is a favorite raw material for my Custom Bespoke Parfums.

Smell the rich and creamy fragrance of the gardenia blossom ..take in the soft, honey smell of the gardenia.? The synthetic gardenia scents have nothing on this natural scent.? Try the real thing…your nose approves.

Cistus Is One Of My Favorites

May 9th, 2011 by

I went to a local park recently and a familiar scent came to my attention.?? I walked over to this elegant pink blossom and inhaled the glorious unique smell of cistus.? It is found in a number of public gardens as yellow flowers, white, or pink flowers.? I love this pink version.? The center design is recognizable. Rock rose is another name for cistus – cistus ladaniferus.? It is a Mediterranean shrub.? Some people refer to this as labdanum.

Cistus is an amber base note that is a herb type scent that is centering and comforting.? It really resonates with me and I find I reach for it often.

I sell cistus on my website at?? http://www.joannebassett.com/essent.html

It is also included in my Perfume Kit ? http://www.joannebassett.com/perfumekit.htm

The perfume kit is a wonderful way to learn how to create your own natural perfumes.

Terre Natural Eau De Parfum Terre Natural Eau De Parfum Terre Natural Eau De Parfum Terre Natural Eau De Parfum Terre Natural Eau De Parfum
Terre is the French word for Earth. I created Terre for Earth Day 2011.

This exotic perfume brings heaven and earth together as one. The Angelica “of the Angels”, and the alba rose oil ” the flower of Light”, come together to dance in the heavens. The citrus oil and flowers of the orange tree are united with the litsea to uplift our spirits. The clary sage helps up to see clearly. The jasmine sambac supports the feminine energy. The gingergrass and frankincense helps to keep our feet on Mother Earth and stay grounded.

A beautiful, feminine floral with subtle herbal effects.

Notes: citrus notes of sweet orange, vintage angelica, vintage Bulgarian white rose oil, neroli – orange blossoms, clary sage, vintage jasmine sambac, litsea, gingergrass, vintage frankincense from Oman

This eau de parfum has a 16% fragrance strength. The parfum is 36% fragrance strength.
