Earth Day Is Every Day

April 22nd, 2019 by

I love these old redwoods that were in my yard in Northern California.  This particular redwood tree is over 40 years old.

These grandmother and grandfather redwoods are Nature Spirits!  Notice the Grandfather face on the redwood tree behind me. They are great wisdom keepers. Have you ever talked to a tree or hugged a tree?   When you are walking on this great earth.. open your eyes and your consciousness to what is around you.  Put down the cell phone…stop looking at your computer. Get out in nature and reconnect with the land. Get grounded in the earth and connected with Great Spirit.  See how your life changes.  I want future generations to enjoy the ancient redwoods also.  That is why I donate a percentage of my perfume sales to Save The Redwoods League.

In honor of Earth Day I am asking my readers to become more aware of how you reuse, recycle, and conserve our resources.

When I look at the packaging in a perfume business I cringe. There are double boxes, the outer box which is the mailer and the inner box which is the beautiful one we throw away, the paper liners, the cellophane over wraps, the tissue, the bows, etc.

We hear over and over how packaging sells the perfume. When we buy the perfume the first thing we do is throw away the layers of packaging and usually just put the pretty bottle on our dresser. Some people save the box if it can be re purposed or if they prefer to have their fragrances all in boxes in a cabinet as a collection.

As I researched other brands I noticed that they are really almost all the same with different colors and logos. To set my line apart I chose boxes that could be reused.

My perfume boxes are gift boxes in the shape of books. They are deep enough to store trinkets or other items. They have a magnetic flap so the box will stay closed. They are three sizes and house my parfums, eau de parfums,  and all of the Collections with hand blown glass perfume bottles. These beautiful boxes have gold foil and beautiful flower patterns with butterflies, and peacocks. They are unique and also can be stacked or placed on a shelf like a book. How original!  They can be reused to hold your trinkets, tarot cards, jewelry or whatever you choose.

You can view my collections at this link: http://joannebassett.com/collections

My Gift Boxes contain 1 oz of eau de parfum and come with a free 5 ml travel sprayer filled with your favorite scent.  They can be refilled. If you remove the paper filling you will see the beautiful designs in the bottom of the box. The box can be reused and re purposed. These are ways to reduce our paper waste and not contribute more garbage to the landfills.

I also grow flowers and harvest blossoms, and create tinctures of roses, gardenia, citrus blossoms and others for my Custom Perfumes. These special tinctures and macerations are only used in my bespoke fragrances. This is a way to use our bounty and share it with others.

My 100% natural perfumes only contain essential oils and absolutes that are created from nature’s bounty.  They are steam distilled from flowers, leaves, trees, and a variety of plants.  The absolutes are extracted from the flowers that are very precious.  I would never consider using the toxic, synthetic fragrance oils sold to create perfumes sold in mass market and from some artisan perfumers. Those fragrance oils do damage to our hormones and more and they have never seen a plant as those oils are created in a laboratory from chemicals.

Let’s use nature’s bounty and receive the benefits of the essential oils. I work with the Plant Devas and the Flower Fairies to create my natural perfume masterpieces.

Donations to Save the Redwoods League

March 9th, 2019 by

I have decided to donate a % of my sales to  Save The Redwoods League.

This amazing Non Profit supports saving the redwood trees. After living in the Northern California Sonoma wine country and exploring all of the redwood groves in the area I have decided to give back. There are many beautiful old redwoods on the coast and the Avenue of the Giants is one of my favorite drives. It goes for 31 amazing miles.

Here I am at the Armstrong Redwoods in Guerneville, CA.  I lived nearby in 2018 and really enjoyed hugging the trees and feeling their beautiful energy.

It would be terrible if future generations were not able to experience these beautiful trees.

One of the largest redwood trees in Sonoma County is part of a 730-acre old growth redwood tract north of Cazadero, May 9, 2018, acquired by Save the Redwoods League, which plans to open it as a public park in about three years.   I am very excited about this.

Thank you for supporting my business so I can donate to this cause that touches my heart.  Ancient Redwood trees hold great wisdom and I have experienced their help and generosity.
