Honeysuckle Memories

April 21st, 2010 by
As a child I would wander in the forest surrounding our house.? There was always honeysuckle blooming in the Spring.?? I have many fond memories of this sweet, inviting scent.? The fragile yellow and white flowers always bring a smile to my face.? This honeysuckle is growing on my hillside.? I was recently at the beach and saw it growing on some long grass with some ice plant mixed in.? It is wild and just grows and expands where it?wants to.? That is how I feel right now.? I just want to grow and expand.

I do not pick them so I do not tincture, macerate, or enfleurage these tiny blooms.? The fresh bloom often smells so different from the tinctured version.? They are great just as they are.? ?Fleeting memories…..

A Beautiful Rose in My Garden

April 11th, 2010 by
Roses by George Eliot
You love the roses – so do I. I wish
The sky would rain down roses, as they rain
From off the shaken bush. Why will it not?
Then all the valley would be pink and white
And soft to tread on. They would fall as light
As feathers, smelling sweet; and it would be
Like sleeping and like waking, all at once!
