Client posted to Fragrantica.com: Luscious Roses eau de perfume: This is a masterpiece. I am intrigued with the blend, never smelled in my life such a beautiful rose perfume. On wearing this I have feeling that I am “THE ROSE” spreading vibe of rose. Garnered complements from my 4 & 5 years old grandchildren on the spot when they enter my room.
Longevity on my skin is 10+ hours. Will definitely place order for a backup bottle. Rating: 10/10
Client posted to Fragrantica.com: Intimacy eau de perfume: Another masterpiece from JoAnne Bassett. Oakmoss is my favorite note & this floral chypre perfume is deep, rich, seductive, versatile & pleasant. My Rating: 10/10
Hi Ms. Bassett, I wanted to express to you my extreme delight in finding your online store and exquisite natural perfumes. I noticed Patty in her blog, Perfumeposse.com, which I’ve been following for a few years now, mentioned a review of your Italian Smoke— which you included a sample for me to try, how wonderful!! and Sacred Frankincense 3, which I am loving as well…I’m so excited about all of these I’ve chosen to sample, it is hard to formulate appropriate sentences to describe them!! I do enjoy Chantelle so very much, it is sublime, the perfect match on my skin, although so far I do not even *slightly* dislike a single thing about any of your perfumes– they are PERFECT!!
I have tried many natural perfumes and none of them quite compare to what you’ve done. My kudos to you and your art, I am absolutely amazed and impressed with your entire line. I never want to wear other perfumes!!!
Once again, I love your perfumes so very much, and I am looking forward to being a loyal customer of your line.
Thanks again, for all you do, JH
Italian Leather eau de parfum by Georgette Villareal
Recently, I was incredibly Blessed with winning JoAnne’s RAOK, allowing me to sample her new leather collection. Leather is one of my favorite notes. I was especially intriqued by this fragrance which blends florals with the rich earthy notes of leather, tobacco and patchouli. This is a beautiful light, feminine, romantic leather. It’s very floral. It reminds me of walking in the spring with a handsome gentleman wearing a leather coat. As you stroll through nature’s masterpiece, the sun is growing warmer, causing the gentleman to work up a little bit of a sweat, making the fragrance of the leather pop. You reach in for a tender embrace, and inhale the soft, sweet leather mingled with the intoxicating spring floral bouquet, rich with jasmine. It’s romantic, lingering, but soft. The notes are listed as cistus, wild orange, vintage jasmine, grandifolium, Bulgarian tobacco and light patchouli.

Luscious Roses Parfum – Elisabeth B – Hey JoAnne, Thanks so very much for the lovely perfume!! It smells AMAZING!! Totally LOVE it!!
From Facebook: Henrique Brito wrote: Reflections smells peaceful in its exoticism and transmits what you would expect from a sunset, a sensation of peace and well-being through a captural of a pleasant and natural beauty.”
From Facebook: Henrique Brito wrote: Luscious Roses is dedicated to one of the essences that JoAnne Bassett loves, the smell of roses. In almost all of her fragrances you find rose and it’s used by the perfumer for both the delicate aroma as its healing properties. In Luscious Roses she creates a fragrance dedicated to one the most venerated flowers but opting to represent it in a more abstract way, choosing a mix of 6 different roses that are supported by a background base of vanilla, patchouli, balsam and frankincense. The roses, as star, dominate most of the composition and sound as freshly harvested and natural; they are not like the thick extracted rose smell but more like the flower in its delicacy. There is a quick sweet citric opening and then the roses smell soon is evident, at first more green, later more fruity and then in a third phase more musky and satiny. At this phase you can notice a sheer incense, at the background, giving evidences that the fragrance heads to the final phase. Its base it’s dark but delicate as the roses that comes before it and make an interesting contrast of an aroma which works as a second skin but that it’s a dark mixture of boozy vanilla, sweet and earthy patchouli and a resinous balsam. Being a 100% natural fragrance makes Luscious Roses whisper instead of shouting on skin, but even that its aroma is delicate it last quite well for a natural composition, more than 6 hours of a cozy and silky aroma of precious and beautiful roses.
From Facebook – Henrique Brito Esoterica is, although complex, a well-balanced fragrance, perceptible on skin but not loud, being more of a rich, silky, luxurious and comfortable scent, a sensual elixir that develops its mysteries on my skin in a comfortable pace.
From Facebook: Henrique Brito – Balance is a word that comes to mind when smelling Timeless on skin, probably due to the curative aspect to which JoAnne created it. It’s not be maybe a healing for the body, but for the soul, a moment of relaxation and peace obtained through their resins, incense and Woods.
From Facebook: Henrique Brito’s review: It’s true that Temptress opens in a strong way, but this seduced know very well how to play her seduction ways in a complex and yet extremely pleasant way. One of the reasons that she makes you want more is quite evident from the first moment you apply it on skin: she is delicious. JoAnne Bassett matches perfectly several essences and something you end noticing on all of her fragrances is that in all of the themes she proposes she will apply high quality essences, rare to find in fragrances, and in a careful combination, in a way that each essence fits perfectly the theme created. In Temptress, she does it starting with a mouthwatering combination of citrusy fruits, that has a fresh and slightly sweet smell and that makes me think of tangerines. As the scent starts to develop on skin this seduction game is played, at this second moment, using sensual flower extracts, that smell sensual, but not overwhelming. It’s interesting that JoAnne uses on Temptress a jasmine that doesn’t have any indolic aspect and that it’s able to continue the fruity citric opening under a more floral perspective of a discreet green aspect. The rose gives it a delicate floral aroma of musky and fruity nuances and it’s perfectly mixed with the jasmine. Surrounding the flowers you have a secundary incense theme that confers them a slighty smoky and resinous aura. The seduction game played by this temptress ends in a discreet vanillic and lavender base, without too much sugar or cream from the vanilla or too much caramel and herbs from the lavender and it’s balanced by a slightly use of an earthy patchouli. This Temptress is full of tricks and those are the ones that I’m able to understand from its complex idendity, being this one of her main seduction tricks: she leaves you wanting more because you cannot completely decipher her at once.
Olfactarama review of Sensual Embrace
Sensual Embrace: Perfumer JoAnne Bassett
This one reminds me of classic vintage perfume. The top notes are listed as citrus, but it doesn’t smell like tart fruit. It has an impression of coolness, like marble, which lasts all the way through.
There is an ethereal quality to this blend, and it seems somehow more transparent, more water-like, than any of the others I’ve tried. That is not to say it’s not musky, though. The perfumer states in her letter that she wanted to make a perfume to throw a punch, and this one does, once it gets to the bottom accords. Prior to that, I’d say it was more luminous than aggressive.
The list of notes is not complete, but the ones listed are: green mandarin and clementine (for a playful lift, the perfumer says) ; vintage jasmine sambac, tobacco, vintage Mysore sandalwood, amber accord, rose de mai, violet, orange blossom and tuberose. I think this would be a wonderful summer fragrance. It is an EDP (eau de parfum) in strength.
For the painting, I chose to use a pastel blue-green for the background, because of the cool and luminous quality the fragrance has, with floral colors in the center and all of it descending into a smoky base. The mediums are watercolor and gouache.
